2018 Race Recap

For the ninth year, the One Step Closer to the Cure race encompassed a community of support for the fight against ovarian cancer. Over 1,200 participants joined us along the waterfront of downtown St. Petersburg, along with numerous volunteers and sponsors. New this year, ovarian cancer survivors walked with teal balloons prior to the start of the 5K and 10K to kick off the event. At the post-race party, our overall 5K winner, Blair Burnett, the overall 10K winner, Alex Quesada, along with age group winners were recognized. The Tampa Bay Turners team had the most number of participants, and Team Alfonso raised the most funds. This year’s race brought in over $62,000 that will be used for the Hope Fund, which is used to support women going through treatment with living expenses.
