Ovarian Cancer Survivors
Ovarian cancer survivors in the event are encouraged to seek pledges for their participation. Please consider making a pledge in the form of a donation naming who you would like to support. We also provide a pledge form on our forms page.
Fundraising
Our 2012 Race Event saw many groups and individuals go out of their way to set up fundraising teams and individual campaigns to assist us with our mission to provide financial assistance to patients fighting ovarian cancer. While this is NOT mandatory to participate in our event, it is available to you if you would like to further assist. This year we have set up a fundraising page. The steps to setting it up are very simple. One can just donate or set up a page for their team or individually. You can also send out messages to people to get the word out. Once you click on the link provided, click on “Become a Fundraiser.” There you can set up an “individual” page or “team” page. We thank you in advance should you decide to help us raise funds. If you have any additional questions regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Awards
The course is USATF-certified (#FL11071EBM) with chip timing for the 5K and obstacle course. For the 5K race, awards will be given to the top male/female finisher in standard age group categories and to the overall top 3 males and females. For Overcoming Obstacles, the first male and first female receive awards. Special medals will be awarded to all participants who complete Celma’s Challenge and Celma’s Mini Challenge.
Celma’s First Superhero
Meet the first Celma Mastry Superhero – Julia Gilby, age 9, was recognized and given her award at the 2011 One Step event. She is our superhero who has made a difference in the lives of women with Ovarian Cancer by her unselfish efforts in raising funds and awareness for the Foundation. She requested donations be made to our cause instead of gifts for both her 9th and 10th birthdays. Thank you Julia, you are indeed Celma’s superhero.
Volunteers
We can use help in several areas for this and future events, such as registration, water distribution, timing, set-up, and more. If you or your group is interested in helping out, please visit our Volunteer Opportunities page to sign up.
